My botanical expertise is in native and horticultural plants, greenhouse cultivation, site-appropriate plant selection & installation, garden maintenance, arboretum & herbarium curation, seed germination testing, and ecological restoration. Below is information about my rates, services, and relevant professional experience.
I charge $40/hr for the following services in the Walla Walla area:
- Pruning of shrubs and small trees (I do not have an arborist certification so I do not work with large trees or chainsaws) and maintenance trimming of topiary plants
- Tree, shrub, and perennial planting (including in containers)
- Mulching, deadheading, thinning of perennials, cutting back and prepping perennials for winter
- Digging up dahlias and Canna lilies to prep for winter storage
- Species and cultivar recommendations for native plant and horticultural gardens (I am not certified in landscape design, but I can help property owners identify appropriate locations for plants, accounting for mature plant spacing, sunlight, and soil needs)
- Regular weeding of well-maintained (consistently weeded) flower beds (I do not provide catch up weeding services on gardens that have become overrun with massive weeds)
- Plantings for slope stabilization and other ecological or management goals

Responsibilities were as follows: Seed germination testing, butterfly husbandry, plant secondary metabolism research, data analysis with R, technical report preparation, grassland field monitoring, laboratory sample preparation, greenhouse plant cultivation, and supervision of undergraduate laboratory technicians.
