Lengthy academic drafts typically include many in-text citations and one or more references sections. Despite a writer’s best efforts, it is common to make one or more of the following errors: (1) inconsistency in publication date or spelling of author names between in-text citations and the references section; (2) failure to include a source from in-text citations in the references section, or vice versa; or (3) failure to delete a source from the references section that the writer did not end up citing in the main text. These errors can occur even when using citation manager software. Citation managers can also inflict formatting errors for both in-text citations and references sections, requiring manual correction. I will go through every in-text citation and source listed in your document references section to check for these errors.
