I bill at discounted rates for youth, students, and incarcerated authors. I require legal guardian permission and active involvement to provide editing services for writers under the age of 18. Student authors will need to comply with my academic integrity requirements for documents that are school assignments. Incarcerated authors will need to follow my Submission Guidelines for Incarcerated Authors.
Discount rates are as follows:
- 40% discount for writers under age 18, writers enrolled in high school, and writers who are currently incarcerated
- 30% discount for undergraduate students
- 20% discount for graduate students
I will also give an additional 5% discount for formerly incarcerated students, as well as for first-generation undergraduate and graduate students. Criteria for first-generation status can vary, but I define a first-generation student as one whose primary and secondary caretakers during the student’s K–12 years obtained no college degree of any kind. In a traditional family, primary caretakers might be a child’s parents, while secondary caretakers might be a child’s grandparents, but as we all know, modern families are as diverse as the day is long.
I myself was a first-generation college student. I am willing to extend this extra 5% discount to any student who did not benefit from the informal knowledge college-educated caretakers are able to impart to children concerning both the importance of higher education and how to navigate higher education pathways and networks.
