Writers sometimes ask if I can provide a “before and after” sample of writing I have edited. The challenge in doing so is this: It would require me to share the private rough drafts of other clients I have had, and that would be a violation of trust and confidentiality agreements I uphold with each writer whose work I edit.
What I am able to do is provide a link to my portfolio, which includes examples of published academic articles in which I am acknowledged as the editor. I am also able to provide writers with a short sample edit on an excerpt of their draft if they would like to see that before deciding to hire me as an editor.
