I typically charge US $40/hour for research and writing services, but I am willing to negotiate fees for certain grant-funded university research projects. Where research requires limited or paid access to specialized databases or portals (JSTOR, LexisNexis, PACER, etc.), the client will need to cover costs or provide access. Please review my payment policies, and if you are a student, please review information on student rates and academic integrity.
I am trained in both American and British English conventions, and I am especially skilled at synthesizing daunting and messy piles of raw documentation into compelling narratives. I have done research and writing work in the following areas and am always interested in working on new types of projects:
Research
- Biochemical topics in ecology
- Plant taxonomy and identification
- Cultivar development history
- Seed germination protocols
- Government agency history
- Court and police records analyses
- Comparative prison policy analyses
- American case law precedent in post-conviction cases
- Judicial deference to prison officials
- Prison food systems
- Secondary incarceration of prisoners’ families
- Consequences of using drug-detecting canines in K–12 schools
Academic & Nonfiction Writing
- Grant proposals
- Technical reports for land management and criminal justice organizations
- Summaries of survey responses, court dockets, and government agency records prepared for ombudsmen, attorneys, and criminal justice organizations
- Dissertation and thesis formatting guides for graduate students
- Educational signage and handouts
- Online and in-person curricula materials
- Law office memos and form letters
- Blog posts
- Website content
